To open and close the right pane in Sparrow 1.2, you can:
- Use ⇧-⌘-T
- Use the Menu > Window > Message Panel
- Tap → to open and ← to close when a message is selected
- Use a lateral three-finger swipe from left to right to open
Keep it minimal
In Sparrow 1.2, we added a lot of new features but also made sure that hard core minimalists and shortcuts lovers could keep a streamlined Sparrow.
Here is how to keep it minimal:
Go into Sparrow Preferences and you’ll have all the option you need:
- ‘Hide pictures’ will allow you to hide avatars in the message list
- We’ve added an option to ‘hide the selection bar in the inbox’
- You can also hide the unified inbox avatar if you like

Activating the minimal mode:
Go into Sparrow’s Preferences > Advanced, and tick the ‘Hide Message preview’ box.
In Sparrow, you can choose to attach images either inline or as a classic attachment.
Drag & dropping an image to the bottom of the compose window will add the image as a classic attachment.
Drag & dropping an image in the upper part of the window or in the text will add it as an inline attachment.
You can also use the ⇧-⌘-A .
